The GOP's Fascist Agenda

The GOP's Fascist Agenda

Fascism is not an idea to be debated

It must be smashed

Ignoring fascism will not make it go away

Fascism is on our doorstep

"This extremism has been building for decades with rightwing media pundits’ embrace of increasingly conspiratorial, authoritarian, racist and xenophobic messages, which has gone unacknowledged for the most part in mainstream political and academic discourse."

ANTHONY DIMAGGIO

The Grand Old Party (as it was once called) rarely governs or legislates. There's no arguing any of this if you are an observer of their behavior on social media or in the chamber where they serve. They point fingers, but provide no viable solutions; they obstruct, and rarely offer up legislation themselves. They do not serve all of the people; they serve only those who fit their mold. The GOP has always consorted with the far right. It was John Boehner who invited the Tea Party under his umbrella. Later, they would force him out. Now, the Tea Party Foundation funds what is being called "The New Right," which is even more extreme than they were. Because that's how fascists work. While the GOP has not presented one initiative that serves the people in its post-midterm cycle, their rhetoric over the past two years shows us exactly what they envision for us. Refusing to say its name does not make it go away.

Returning the GOP to power is the end of American democracy

The GOP Playbook

Women's Rights

The GOP has continually talked about a nationwide ban on a woman's right to govern her own body since the overturn of Roe v. Wade

LGBTQ+ Rights

Do not believe Lindsey Graham when he says same-sex marriage is safe. That was then. Now he's talking about it being a state's issue. That means it will be overturned in the Supreme Court.

Transgender Rights

GOP-governed states have already imposed draconian measures to prevent transgender people from playing sports and getting treatment. They have talked about taking this nationwide.

Immigration

The GOP does not want a workable immigration plan and will not work toward that. They will reinstate Trump's vicious border policy.

Health Care

Rather than expanding health care for citizens, they just may have the power to finally repeal Obamacare, taking away health care for millions.

Social Security/Medicare

Rick Scott has discussed having to re-visit these critical earned benefits every five years for refunding, while Ron Johnson has gone a step further and suggested their elimination. Any idea how many seniors live on these benefits that they have paid taxes to achieve?

Dismantling Public Education

Betsy DeVos once questioned the need for the Department of Education. GOP governors are moving money out of the public school system and giving it to private charter schools. States are also dictating what teachers can teach.

Dismantling Public Health

Living through the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us what will happen in the future. Rand Paul and his cohorts have vilified Anthony Fauci, a man who has served under many administrations with distinction. The GOP has also suggested the dissolution of the CDC.

Impeach Joe Biden

This has been a threat since Trump lost in 2020. There is absolutely no impeachable offense that Biden has committed, but that does not matter to the GOP. Like the filibuster, impeachment will become a political weapon. Biden has already realigned his legal team in the event this happens.

Eliminate Free and Fair Elections

Redistricting is already achieving some of these goals, but with the majority power, this will only get worse. If they install election deniers in key positions, such as Secretary of State, they will have full control over elections. The midterms could be the last legitimate election cycle we see.

Move To Theocratic Rule

Rick Scott's 11-point plan to 'Save America' requires school prayer. Lauren Boebert doesn't believe in this "separation of church and state stuff." We have avowed Christian Nationalists serving in our legislature. The push to make America a Christian nation has actually been on the drawing board since before the Tea Party.

Governing With Violence

Just look at the events of January 6, 2021 and understand that the GOP has continually thwarted any effort to seek justice for insurrection. Pay attention to their rhetoric every day as they discuss harming their political enemies. This is the hallmark of fascism, its logo.

Believe them when they tell you who they are.
